“Jis thali me kaaya usi me ched kiya” or biting the hand that feeds, this statement by Jaya Bachchan hurts the sentiments of people who were very close to Shri Amar Singh. I sincerely wish he was alive to make Jaya Bachchan understand the true meaning of this phrase. It is surprising that the Rajya Sabha seat from where she was making a point, and sharing her opinion, it is the very same seat which was made obtainable to her due to the family’s closeness with their then friend Shri Amar Singh Ji.

In a series of events, Amar Singh helped and supported Amitabh Bachchan in numerous ways- to get his company back on its feet,  provided a platform for social respect, encouraged Jaya Bachchan to enter politics, and helped in a complete societal make-over of the Bachchan family. He was always around to actively support the Bachchan family and stood by them like a pillar through thick and thin times. The same friendship was never reciprocated by them in his time of need.

Hence such a statement from Jaya Bachchan is a miss-fit as she did the same thing when Amar Singh had to leave Samajwadi Party and she decided to stay. Even during his ailment there was no support given to him by them and his passing away was covered up in two lines of a tweet. Hence one can only wish if Amar Singh was there to make Jaya Bachchan elocute the meaning of this phrase.
